- After-tax and after Steam taking its share, I end up with $11853.

- After my previous video (recorded 5 months ago) the game earned +$10548.

- A significant part of the revenue comes from sales. Without sales, wishlists grow. During the sales, wishlists burn (convert to purchases).

- The discount never crossed 40% (10-20-27-30-33-35-37% so far). Sales with a discount of 30-40% multiply the revenue per day by 4-5 times compared to the period before the sale.

Whats your game called?

How many hours a day did you work?

What is the average review score from your fans?

Did you work on it all by yourself?

- KingSim.
- During the first year, in spare time after the day job and then full time for another half a year while developing the game. It's hard to guess how many hours exactly.
- 88% positive on Steam by now.
- Almost entirely, yes. Concept arts were done by the spouse.

Very cool game. I am currently traveling and look forward to getting this when I return home.

Thanks for sharing OP. Lots of great info here, and I congratulate you on your release. No, you're not a millionaire, but shit, you completed and published a game, which is a major accomplishment in and of itself

level 2

And made some decent money, which is unfortunately more than many published indies can say

Thank you for the nice words ^_^

Thanks for the information! Would you mind discussing what you did to market the game?

level 2

I did a specific video on my YouTube channel about how I marketed KingSim. In short - most of the traffic to wishlists came from youtubers, who played the game. But I still recommend you to watch the video, it has graphs and numbers)

level 1

How many wishlists did you have at launch? Mind sharing?

level 2

I found your video about it. Thanks for sharing.

Very true point about sales you made. Tons of people who stumple upon your game and kind of like it based on whatever info they have (be it lets plays on youtube or just screenshots on steam page), will simply wishlist it unless they love the game and need it now. And 30-40% is quite good discount (imho the sweet spot) and people who want to play the game will buy it then.

Surely there will be people who wait 75% discount, but there is a chance that they won't even buy it then because it has been so long that they don't even remember why they put it on wishlist in the first place.

level 2

Yep. Still, the more wishlists you have - the better. Even if some of them wait for your game to become free))

Sharing is caring. Thanks!

So did your game earn $20000 total? I'm a bit confused by the numbers.
